Blemishes and Flaws

In this photo series, I wanted to touch on the never ending desire to achieve perfection when it comes to the way we want to appear in photographs.  While image manipulation have become acceptable and, in most cases, a necessary part of image making, we’re still debating how far one can go.
The idea for this work came with the feeling of abstraction created during some photo correction sessions, when the image is zoomed in and we can’t see the whole.
By only presenting some dots (many of them containing a flaw), I wanted to create abstractions of portraits, where the final image is not revealed and can only be constructed in the viewer’s mind.
